Thursday - Isaiah 54: 1-10, Ps. 29, Luke 7, 24-30.
Love without limits.
The song of Isaiah today allows us to discover the greatness of the Lord to Israel and to every soul redeemed by his blood. As the shame of the woman sterile or abandoned shall be turned into joy, because it will become the mother of many children, so will the chosen people, God will move when its to save it. Anger or punishment for a moment will turn into a love full of compassion and goodwill, the commitment of eternal love, sanctioned by an oath: "For the mountains and the hills will falter, do not depart from me you care. " The word of God is always present and is addressed to each of us in various situations of life. We are sterile when our life is lived away from God by his grace. Then all the good works we do not have any value before the Lord that reward only what is done for him, with love. But even if in time we have lost her friendship with our infidelities and we have dishonored ourselves and others in the holy name of God, he is always willing to forgive. The desolation of spirit, a sense of aridity and abandonment of the Lord shall be read as a correction to urge them to return to the Father's house. But in these situations of trial and suffering, we should never think of a vengeful God, Death, He is mercy and love. However, we are called to share with Jesus the Saviour the weight of the cross that they have received in love, becomes participation in the work of redemption, staff and community.

Jesus praises the advent of the prophet, John the Baptist saying that it is not a reed shaken by the wind, not a man wrapped in soft clothing, but it is a strong and sturdy oak , sent by God to prepare the way for the coming of the Messiah . He says that not only is a prophet, but is more than a prophet and adds: "Among those born of woman, not is no greater than John . 's task is to John pave the way for the arrival of Lord, he is the messenger sent by God first to announce the need of penance, change, baptizing with Jordan River water, waiting to be him who will baptize in the Holy Spirit. People hear the word of Christ and believes in the mission of John the Baptist , while the Pharisees and doctors of the law not accepted, not are baptized and make vain plan of salvation .

Wednesday - Is 45,6-8.18.21-25 Ps 84 Luke 7.19-23: Tell John what you saw and heard.

I am the Lord your God

In the passage we is proposed in the celebration today it seems that God wants to tell his true identity. He alone is God and there are others. I think our attention and help to stop reflection on some statements that reveal his divinity. He presents himself as the creator of all things. He created the earth "is not a waste but because it was inhabited," and he was raised a hymn of praise. I am just God and Saviour: the only salvation comes from Him "Before Him every knee" and appear before him, full of shame, not many have accepted it as their savior. But this song contains the strong plea that the liturgy applies to your Christmas season: "Shower, O heavens, from above, and the clouds rain Facciani justice (the right), let the earth open and salvation (the Savior) and shoots with justice (the right). "And so we come in the great plan of God, the plan of salvation of man . It is from this land, from the mud of this wonderful world, this cosmos that we will never discover, the Savior comes to us, made man from the womb of the Virgin Mary, a gift of heaven to humanity disoriented, best fruit of the earth, sprout from the root of David. The word of God tends to convince us of the full dependence on him. We are not the creators, but he is so loving obedience to his commands, acceptance to what he allows in our lives as the events that concern us more or less closely. However, given the sick and rebellious roots of our humanity, which tends to proclaim their freedom, shouting "Non Serviam," I will not serve, that's God sends his beloved Son in the crib that becomes the model of obedience and humility. Heaven forbid that the sight of this prodigious child to call you back to the worship of one true God the Father, deliver us from the many idols that you build from that self-sufficiency and that tends to deify the man and kill the faith in him. MBS

John's disciples Baptist heard that Jesus of Nazareth speaks to the crowd and performed many miracles, go to question, "Are you the one who should come or look we for another?". Jesus does not answer the question directly, but refers to the words of Isaiah: "Go and tell John the Baptist that the blind see, the lame walk, the mute to hear, the dead rise," and then proclaim a word that must never forget, "the poor have good news preached ', thus confirming the prophecy of Isaiah, who prophesied the time of the Messiah. To get the good news that God is our father and we are all children of God, we must accept the Gospel of Christ, but we must also remember that Christmas is not just a commemoration of the birth of the Savior, but the renewal of the birth and the beginning of our salvation. We recall the final word in today's Gospel: "Blessed is he who takes no offense to me,"

St. John of the Cross - Priest and Doctor of the Church - Sof 3,1-2.9 -13 Ps 33 Mt 21,28-32: John came and sinners believed him.

A humble and poor people.
The Lord's service demands speed and consistency. In the Gospel passage we are presented the case of two children suffered the first of which adheres to the demands of his father to deny him a moment later. But the other, after a wave of protest to the order received, carrying out the will of his father. When asked who had executed the will of the father, his partners are forced to say: 'The first, namely that at first he refused. Jesus makes the application immediately, "the voice of John you would not have believed, while published and prostitutes have taken his voice." It is not difficult to find an allusion to future events of the Church. The people who pay the jew deny Christ faith the Gentiles. This causes the "trouble" the first reading of Zephaniah, the troubles against the rebellious cities. It is less a wall of the population who do not hear the voice of God or accept correction. But God is the master and creator of man. He chooses those who wish that his name be glorified. But especially in turns his gaze to the poor and humble that ricolmerà of all good, even in the premium of his fidelity to the covenant. It would not be out of place even more personal reflection. We, Christians, we are called to proclaim our allegiance with the name of the Lord. How many times but our behavior is not befitting our dignity as children of God Our faith is constrained indifference and then the fruits are lacking. It will never be that new nations, full of fervor, perhaps China would enter the kingdom of God and we are driven out because of our inconsistency and superficiality?

Newspaper "In His Image" - comment by Msgr. Francesco Ruppi

The parable of two sons, one replied that goes to work, but there is another who refuses, and then we go, we understand that they are not words that we need, but are the facts that make us know if we are upright or false and if we are truly children of God first appears obedient son, but in reality very disobedient, and the second seems disobedient, but is much more obedient than the first. Jesus takes this opportunity to say that the sinners and prostitutes arriving in the kingdom of heaven before many impostors, though intelligent and educated, because sinners and prostitutes, if they are truly repentant, they see the glory of God, while arrogant and contemptuous of those people left behind. Jesus once said (Matt. 7:21) not the one who says' Lord, Lord, shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father. " Let us never forget.

Monday - Saint Lucia - 24,2-7.15-17 Nm Ps 24 Mt from 21.23 to 27: The baptism of John, where he came from?
blindness.
Today, the Church presents to us the figure of Saint Lucia, virgin and martyr of Syracuse, invoked as a protector of view. It 's the same name, Lucia, the bearer of light, giving it this name. Given the importance in our lives that this body is the eye, today's churches, which celebrate its feast, are crowded with devotees who call for the protection of the holy martyr. In the pieces of writing which are brought to our account we can see some connection with light, perhaps more negative than positive. Balak saw the jew people forward and would like to stop it. Call for help because the soothsayer Balaam curse this people which is now the border of Moab. But I guess instead of curses directed at Israel blessings upon blessings so that makes angry Balak king of Moab. While the prophet in God's law that has reserved for his people, on the other hand we have the gross blindness of this king who can not understand that you can not fight against God Another blindness is found in the Gospel. Before the question of Jesus about the origin of the baptism of John, whether from heaven or from men, the chief priests and elders of the people show a blindness smart, calculated. Each answer could backfire on them. Then choose not to act. They answer: We do not know. You can submit to us in circumstances that we should give a clear and truthful answer, but for expediency we want to go through fake rounds. We prefer to silence the truth when it may damage our reputation before men. This is also blind. If we were truly blind, we would have no guilt. But since we think there clever and well indoctrinated, then any behavior contrary to our deep belief becomes reprehensible as the denial of Peter, Judas' betrayal. We ask then to Saint Lucia. We can see the good to be done with the eyes of the body but particularly with those of the soul. MBS

the feast of Saint Lucia, Saint eye, which helps us to see the things not seen by the senses, the Church, in the Gospel Matthew, makes us listen to what Jesus responds to a question that do chief priests and elders of the people "By what authority you speak? Who given this authority? ".
This time the Son of God responds according to the custom of the rabbis , wondering where is the baptism of John: " the earth or the sky?". The chief priests
can not answer the question of the Master and then even He reveals the mystery of his person and where does his authority. not revealed to them that are chief priests, but it reveals to those who are small, because the small God reveals the mysteries of her Son. The same Gospel of Matthew (11, 25-30) shows the words of Jesus: 'Father held hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to the small. " If we become too small us, not only will enter the mysteries of God, but into the kingdom of heaven .

Third Sunday of Advent Year A Reflections

Art thou he that should come or look we for another?
At that time, John, who was in prison, having heard of the works of Christ, sent by his disciples and said to him, "Are you he that should come or look we for another?". Jesus answered them, "Go and tell John what you hear and see: The blind receive their sight, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, the poor and proclaim the Gospel. And blessed is he who does not find me a source of scandal. "
While they were leaving, Jesus began to speak to the multitudes concerning John: "What did you go to see in the desert? A reed shaken by the wind? So, what did you go see? A man dressed in clothes of luxury? Here, those who wear luxury clothing are in kings' palaces! Well, what did you go see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, in fact, more than a prophet. This is he of whom it is written: "Behold, before thee I send my messenger before you, he will prepare your way."

Homily
of the Benedictine Monks Silvestrini

The Baptist in the desert.
What did you go to see in the desert? It 's a question that makes people think. Not a barrel, not a man dressed in luxury in the desert ... Have you met a prophet, the messenger who came to prepare the way, the greatest among children born to women, but the least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. Mysterious words, but they want us to reflect on the greatness that has given us baptism by which we joined the new kingdom of God, inaugurated by the redemptive death of the Savior. Then accepting his gospel and living it with consistency, it becomes larger than Young because we live in the new economy of grace. John is in prison. He warns that his days are numbered. King Herod as a fierce do not mess around, let alone with the fury of a woman who is reproached her shameless infidelity. He, from prison, sends his disciples to Jesus to ask if he was indeed the Messiah, Jesus answered by quoting Isaiah 35.5, which we heard in first reading, which describes the joy of the people who return to Jerusalem, accompanied by the festive nature. So we celebrate what is often called "second exodus" means the return of the jew people in Jerusalem after the Babylonian exile. But the real exodus from the bondage of sin occurs through the Messiah who brings joy in every heart with miraculous healings and deliverance from the dominion of the devil. Asked if he was indeed the Messiah, Jesus responds to report to their teacher what they see and hear. The Baptist saw complete his mission as the Messiah has arrived and will now leave this world, happy to have made this contact between Jesus and his disciples, to follow where you will put after his beheading. To enter the mystery of faith are necessary calm and patience. And 'what St. James recommends taking as example the farmer who calmly awaits the result of the sowing or the prophets, who have suffered persecution, prison and even death. Perhaps John is still somewhat taken aback by the news that is reported about the message of salvation that Jesus worked with so much kindness, so kindly, encouraging sinners the humble, the last. A new to him crying in the wilderness. For us instead is a fresh news, because in our disease we do not want a doctor without uprooting the evil heart without mercy, but a compassionate physician who heals, instilling confidence in the recovery. It 'a source of immense joy they can hear you say: You are forgiven your sins! Go in peace! This accomplishes the mercy of God through his minister in the sacrament of reconciliation.

Saturday - Sir 48,1-4.9-11 Ps 79 Mt from 17.10 to 13: Elijah has already come, and they did not recognize.
The prophet Elijah
The two biblical passages of the liturgy found in the figure of Elijah their point of connection. The memory of his achievements and his strong personality full of admiration among the prophets, the author of Sirach which focuses listing all the wonders he has made to defend the true worship of God in the hearts and in society. He crowned his life with a prodigious prodigy, who was kidnapped in the sky on a chariot of fire and waited for the messianic times. His love for the true worship of God makes him worthy of being present in the fullness of time, when the same Jesus, Son of God, says that the spirit of Elijah is brought to life in St. John the Baptist. He is known as the prophet of fire for its fiery word, but also for having repeatedly called for fire on his sacrifice on Mount Caramel, the soldiers sent to arrest him ... His zeal for the glory of God, the people's fidelity to the covenant, his anger against the desecration of name of the Lord reminds us that the mission of Jesus came to bring the fire of his love for men, nurturing a keen desire that every heart will be infected. Unfortunately, as Elijah was persecuted, so will Jesus in a more cruel, more absolute in the refusal by the heads of its people, only happy when they see it hanging from the cross. May the Lord grant that this fire of love, loyalty and gratitude to our Savior come on in our hearts. He says: "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come and eat with him and he with me." In the Eucharist our hearts open to Jesus, but not enough to receive a sacrament. And 'There must be transformed from its spirit and nourish us in his own feelings. Then it will be true communion.

Newspaper "In His Image" - comment by Msgr. Francesco Ruppi

Today's Gospel returns to the theme of the Baptist, in reply to a few disciples who said that before Elijah must come and then the other prophets. Jesus answers that Elijah has already come and people did not recognize, indeed have done the opposite of what he said the prophet Elijah. God first spoke through Elijah, Isaiah, Jeremiah and all the other prophets, now speaks through of John the Baptist, but who does not Elijah heard, not even listen the Baptist. After logiato the Baptist and Jesus spoke that what is being born is the Son of God and is destined to suffer lot, because of men.
It 's very interesting comparison the Baptist with Elijah, because makes us realize that not only Elijah, but also the Baptist went bankrupt in his preaching, so who was beheaded by King Herod. From the speech of Jesus, the disciples realize that speaks of John the Baptist, we hope that we understand the reference the passion of the Son of God and prepare well for Christmas which is now near .

Friday - Is Sal 1 Mt from 11.16 to 19 48.17 to 19: They do not listen nor John, nor the Son of man.
Message: Loyalty and prosperity
We find a strong conceptual link between the first reading and the passage of the Gospel in the hardness of heart contemporaries of Isaiah and Jesus by the prophet God complains of infidelity of his people, because of all his misfortunes. It flashed before his eyes which would be his happiness if he had obeyed his commands. The Gospel shows us also the hostility of the hearers of Jesus that have not been able to recognize God's invitation to conversion or in the preaching of John the austere nor in that sweet and loving the Savior. In both periods should be a reproach and a cold indifference to the demands of grace rooted disbelief. In Jesus, as the soul of the prophet, there is some bitterness and disappointment. They would have expected a very different behavior, a willingness to accept the messages of salvation, but a flat refusal. And 'well known that many parents have felt or feel the same bitterness of Jesus in respect of their children instead of following the advice of someone who has a long experience, they wanted to or want to act and make choices according to their whim then they find themselves entangled in difficulties so great as to be crushed. Even today, the Lord calls me, calls you, parent or child, listening to his word and faithfulness to the teachings that it offers us to live our lives quietly. The rejection and transgression only bring chaos and disturbance in consciousness, anxiety and despair in the soul, anxiety and pain in those you love eating. The Unnamed The Betrothed is annoyed and could not stand the peace and tranquility of the people he felt from his dark castle come to the church to meet with Cardinal Carlo Borromeo. Plagued by guilt, he will also visit the prelate to have a word of peace. Perhaps this is also our experience when, troubled in conscience, we meet men and serene. If we were in this stormy sea, call upon the Lord, sincerely return to Him with repentance and peace will return in our hearts. MBS

Journal "A Sua Immagine" - comment by Msgr. Francesco Ruppi

To help us prepare well for the conversion and the birth of the Lord, we hear today a page a bit 'sad the Gospel of Matthew. Jesus, after the praise of John the Baptist, compared to those children that people in the streets playing the flute and said to his companions: "We played the flute and you have not danced, we sang dirges, and you would not cry ' which means that you have no more nor ears, nor Do not listen to voice ... or the old prophets, or John the Baptist. If you do not hear the Baptist, perhaps not even listen to the Son of man, that's him. We are all naughty boys, but the Christians, because followers of Christ, must be wise, thoughtful, reflective. We must have the wisdom that is spoken of in the same passage from Matthew, but we must remember that true wisdom comes not from books nor from our own experience, but is a gift of the Holy Spirit.

Thursday - Psalms 144 Mt Isa 41.13 to 20 11.11 to 15: There was no man greater than John the Baptist.
The greatness of John the Baptist
The context in which the prophet Isaiah speaks to the people of Israel is in exile. His consistency of being God's people is minimized. Could be compared to a worm crawling on the ground, a ghost, a haunted dall'arsura people, unable to satisfy their thirst. Yet from the ruins of the oracle announces a revival so big and impressive that they can be compared to a threshing machine, capable of crushing mountains and hills, reducing them from chaff in the wind all his enemies. The desert itself is made fertile and abundant water from rivers, hills barren and lifeless, cold springs will flow. But all this will do the power of the Lord that must be made honor and glory. The oppressors of yesterday become the dust of time prophesied. The response to this change is as a thank you from Psalm 144. "O God, my king, I will extol and bless your name forever and forever." The prophecy will be fulfilled with the liberation from slavery in Babylon, but it is not difficult to read the coming among us of the Son of God, able to remove all injustice and oppression. For centuries, Israel has lived the time of waiting and preparation. By Giovanni Battista approaching the time of reality that is already at work. In fact, Jesus emphasizes the person of the precursor is also announcing that the new kingdom will suffer violence as happened to the prophets, Elijah, whose mission is playing John. The violence will not take long to silence him. We live in the fullness of the era of salvation. Sometimes maybe the vicissitudes of life lead us to face situations of humiliation, suffering, struggle, even before the defeat enemy of the soul: the unbelieving world and the devil. But we have confidence that the power of the Lord and his Spirit is stronger than any enemy. There will be freedom for those who trust God in fact we made sure that in the midst of persecution and conflict, not a hair falls from our heads. We should experiment with St. Paul: the more I feel weak because I distrust my strength, the more I become strong for the trust in the redemptive power of the Lord.

John the Baptist is the true prophet of Advent. Not only has he prepared the people of Israel the coming of the Messiah, but today we prepare to Christmas, the birth of the Lord. Just of John the Baptist, Gospel of Matthew reminds today praised made against him by Jesus, "among the born of women there hath not risen a greater than John more Baptist. " After that, the Lord recalls not everyone has welcomed the voice of the prophets, who spoke on behalf of God, indeed many have turned their backs on prophets. If we want to live well, we hear the word of John, who invites us to prepare the way for the arrival of the Lord, must be converted and do penance. Like Elijah spoke to the people elected, so today John speaks to the whole Church, if we listen, we well prepared for Christmas, but if we turn our backs , perish everyone. John the Baptist is the last prophet of the Old Testament prophet and the first of the new testament.

Wednesday - IMMACULATE CONCEPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY
January 3,9-15.20 Ps 97 Eph 1,3-6.11 -12 Lk 1:26-38: You are to conceive a child and give birth.
Behold the handmaid of the Lord.
Before declaring that the Church of the Immaculate Conception dogma of faith of the Virgin Mary is the same as lead us to think and believe: the words and the Angel, who calls it "full of grace", she does not relish, but even believes that it is impossible that what she is told to fulfilled in her: "How is that possible?" then when the divine messenger reassures the way in which her pregnancy is to be fulfilled, her "humble servant of the Lord," declares its complete readiness: "Let me in according to thy word. " That docility, humility, and that the full and unconditional willingness to accompany you throughout its existence, until his glorious transit. Nothing, absolutely nothing in the life of Mary is leaked even the slightest trace of those so obvious weaknesses, arising from original sin, but often that pollute our lives. We are still convinced that our heavenly Mother was conceived without sin, that she will have to accept in her virginal womb the Son of God, who takes yes, our human nature, but can not be the slightest trace of pollution from sin, the person of Maria will be the most pure tabernacle which houses the Incarnate Word. It is still the same Jesus dying on the cross to declare the universal motherhood of Mary, when turning to John says, "Son, behold your Mother." The link is clear and logical: the Mother without sin, only she, the Immaculate, becomes the Mother of all the redeemed. She is so the new Eve, the Lord God upon you pose well pleased, through you may still feel for all mankind the immensity of his merciful love. She is the last pre-redeemed, which shows us the goal and we are born anew as children in the primitive purity. In this world of ours, filled with all kinds of pollution, the Immaculate Conception reminds us of the purity of heart, clear the values of the spirit, the honesty of our feelings and our actions. She talks about the ecology of the soul, of which too little we do.

Maria with her presence speaks of God, reminds us of the victory of grace over sin and leads us to hope humanely even in the most difficult. Mary Immaculate helps us to rediscover and defend the depth of people. Our Lady teaches us to open ourselves to God's action, to watch others as they see him: with mercy, with love, with infinite tenderness , especially longer alone, despised, exploited.

Tuesday - Is Sal 95 40.1 to 11 Mt from 18.12 to 14: God does not want the little ones are lost.
The lost sheep.
The text of Isaiah says in one breath. Both won the heart with its invocations, reflections, promises of salvation shouted loudly to the mountains but also with reference to the inconsistency of man, compared to the grass lawn that is already dry in the evening while the word of the Lord endures forever . But the image that remains indelible in the heart and comfort is offered in the last verse, when he presents the goodness of God pastor comparing it to "leading the lambs on the chest and leads slowly the ewes. " Here is all the tenderness of God made flesh for love of man, which gently care and attention. The figure of the Good Shepherd who has greatly impressed our brethren even in time of persecution, much to represent it in the catacombs, also reappears in the narrative of the gospel today. Who is this good shepherd who leaves ninety-nine on the mountains to go in search of the lost? And 'he himself, the Christ incarnate, who is in search of humanity wants to save everyone, because everyone but especially for those who feel the weight of his own weakness and feel the past. The example of Jesus is followed by great souls who are endowed with the his own feelings: of these we can see that the St. Ambrose Church in Milan today remember with particular solemnity, having been the initiator of the Ambrosian rite. Elected bishop of Milan by acclamation, yet a catechumen, he had to accept, recognizing the will of the Lord in the much of the faithful. He was the father of the poor and oppressed of every rescuer and defender of the Church from any political opposition to the Senate, filoariana Empress, the Emperor Theodosius which prevented him from entering the church before doing public penance for the massacre of innocents in order Greece to avenge the death of a senior officer of the Empire.

the eve of the Immaculate Conception, the Church makes us listen to a brief Gospel that reminds one of the wonderful secrets of Jesus' parable of the lost sheep
is very touching is addressed to each of us . In fact, we all lost sheep, perhaps we were when we were young, but also the elderly and the old show lost and falls. The fact that the pastor, who is Christ, leaves 99 sheep in the fold and goes in search of the lost sheep, is the proof that God loves everyone, especially to sinners. How many times Jesus tried to make us understand that we are all in God's heart and if we are in his heart, we are looking for anywhere, anytime and in all age groups, to make us back on track. When a sinner comes back on the right road is great celebration in heaven. The conclusion of this page is made just for us Matt: your heavenly Father does not want to lose even one of the least among you. "

Monday - Is 35.1 to 10 Ps 84 Luke 5.17-26: Today we have seen wondrous things.

Your sins are forgiven.
E 'was written by the prophet Isaiah is the most great poet that we know. Too bad that his songs are completely ignored by our teachers of letters, and then by the general public of the students. Yet the images have an immediacy so vivid that it seems to touch them with love, experiencing them firsthand. In today's passage there is described a "holy street" that only the pure and the wise, the redeemed, will go. "We rejoice in the desert and the parched land, the wilderness rejoice and blossom." The nature of party dresses, the animals lose their ruthlessness, the men feel full of energy running to freedom. And 'the clear allusion to the liberation from slavery in Babylon, considered as a second Exodus. Yet all this is meant to be only one figure. Think what it will be when the reality: It will not wait. Even the refrain of the psalm makes us say: Behold, our God comes to save us. " The second reading, the passage of the Gospel of Luke presents Jesus in action: he illuminates with his preaching arousing sympathy and admiration so crowded that people do listen to his teaching. Proclaims the forgiveness of sins, as a guarantee immediate healing of the paralytic lowered through the roof in front of him. The astonishment of the people for the healing of the paralytic is great, but we should be more surprised by the power that Jesus, as a true son of God, has, to forgive sins. The disease Physics has its own weight, no doubt, in the life of man, but the spiritual one that separates us from God and makes it worthy of eternal damnation, has a value with eternal consequences. This power Jesus lets the men in his name because sins are forgiven. A confession made with sincerity and eagerness to destroy a sinful life is more valuable than a paralyzed man to walk. The radical change of heart has more shattering effects of to buy the agility of the legs. Who can say how many changes of life, conduct occurring in the confessional? When Charles Chautard, a young wanderer and disbelief in the world, went to Monaco to discuss issues of faith, these said: Kneel down and makes' your confession. After there was no need to discuss. He took the way of the wilderness.

As we prepare for the feast of the Immaculate, and soon after, to that of Christmas, the Lord makes us feel a word of hope, but also of joy: The hope comes from the fact that God forgives our sins, the joy that heals us from a lot of paralysis, which prevent us from walking to God The story of Luke is always moving, when the listen to church and when we read it in evangelism of mercy.
The people at the house of Peter at Capernaum throngs to bring patients from all over Galilee, from the roof so they lowered the bed of a paralytic, and Jesus says a word, the Pharisees, unheard of, "your sins are forgiven. " Criticism which claims to be the place of God, the only one who can forgive sins, Jesus does not respond with a theological discourse, but only says to the paralytic, 'Get up and walk. " When we confess the same thing happened: the Lord forgives sins and makes us rise to new life. It 'an urgent call to confess frequently, especially before major holidays and time of arrival, time of conversion and penance.

Today we have seen wondrous things.
One day Jesus was teaching. They sat there too the Pharisees and teachers of the law, come from every village of Galilee and Judea, and Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was to heal.
And behold, some men, bringing on a bed a man who was paralyzed, trying to get him and put him in front of him. Not finding what part to get him because of the crowd, climbed on the roof and through the tiles, let him down with his bed in front of Jesus in the middle of the room.
Seeing their faith, he said, "Man, your sins are forgiven." The scribes and the Pharisees began to argue, saying, "Who is this who says blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God alone? ".
Jesus knew their thoughts, said, "Why do you think so in your heart? What is easier to say "your sins are forgiven," or say "Arise and walk "? Now you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins, I tell you - he said to the paralytic - 'Get up, take your mat and go back to your house. What To Put In A Birthday Card For A 12 Yea Old

Second Sunday of Advent Year A Reflections

Is 11.1 to 10 15.4 to 9 Mt Ps 71 Rom 3 0.1-12: Repent, the kingdom of heaven is at hand!

In those days came John the Baptist preaching in the wilderness of Judea and saying, "Repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." For he is the one of whom had spoken by the prophet Isaiah when he said: "The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make straight make his paths. "
And he, John wore clothing of camel's hair and a leather belt around his waist, his food was locusts and wild honey. Then Jerusalem, throughout Judea and the whole area along the Jordan went out to him and were baptized by him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins.
Seeing many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said to them, "You brood of vipers! Who made you believe he can escape the wrath to come? Bring forth therefore fruit worthy of repentance, and do not think you can say to yourselves, 'We have Abraham as our father. " Because I tell you, these stones God can raise up children to Abraham. Already the ax is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. I baptize you in water for repentance, but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, and I am not worthy to carry his sandals: he shall baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. He holds the shovel and clean up his threshing floor and gather his wheat into his barn, but will burn the chaff with unquenchable fire. "Mt from 3.1 to 12

The good news of God near

The central phrase of the Baptist ad goes like this: the kingdom of heaven is near, repent. Are the same words which begin with the preaching of Jesus
God is at hand, good news first. The great Pellegrino walked, consumed distances. For now, only the prophet of God but see the steps "is not the revelation that lingers are our eyes were not yet ready" (E. Dickinson).
Advent is the message that God is near, close to all, the network that gathers together in harmony, wolf and the lamb, the lion and the ox, the child and the snake (the word of Isaiah), man and woman, Arab and jew, Muslim and Christian, black and white, for a new architecture in the world and human relationships. The Kingdom of the heavens and the earth as God's dreams. It has not yet been realized? No matter, the dream of God is our future that calls us. We go from the future called.
The second good news, then my life changed.
What converts heat into the cold is the proximity of the fire. "Stay close to me is to stay close to the fire" (apocryphal Gospel of Thomas), you will never go free from his encounter with fire. The force change people is a strength not a human, a huge force, the divine in us, God who comes, comes in and grows inside. This translates to me is a bit of Christ in me.
Repent! More than an order is an opportunity: change direction, actions, penieri; with me the sky is closer and more blue, the sun warmer, more fertile soil, and there are a hundred brothers, and strong trees, and honey. With me you will live only the beginning. You will live wind and fire.
and good fruit. Life in the revelation that change is always possible that no situation is no exit, by grace.
The third center of the ad John: bear fruit worthy of conversion. Merini Alda writes: faith is a hand / you take the guts / faith is a hand / that makes you give birth. Bear a good fruit!
When God comes to life becomes fruitful, and no longer sterile. God is the center of marine life in it (Bonhoeffer). Reach out and touch the mysterious root of life that keeps us strong rights as trees, despite hopes that allows the rubble, despite the good wheat weeds in our field. Is in the heart of life, passion and loyalty of love, hunger for justice, honesty tenacity, when I am committed to closing the gap between the big dream the prophets and the little we have in his hands. Because sin is not transgress the rules, but break a dream. A dream as big as that of Jesus, as good as that of Isaiah, at the center of life as that of John.

The benefits of God toward his people
The song is now being offered for our consideration is generous offer of forgiveness from God Then feel comfortable word. People of Zion, who dwell in Jerusalem, "you do not have to cry." Together with so many goods of the earth, you will be given the bread of affliction and water of affliction, it is true, but also the joy of knowing that your teacher will show you the way you should go for. Who is this teacher who shows us the way pleasing to God? The answer can be found in the passage of the Gospel of Matthew. In the Old Testament God instructed the people through the prophets, in the new alliance will be the same as the Son of God made man, Jesus our Saviour, who will get in the way "for cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease. " His compassion is manifested to the crowds weary and helpless. Then sends his disciples to "preach the kingdom of heaven is at hand, heal the sick, to raise the dead, heal the lepers and cast out demons." The crowds weary and helpless, we will have until the end of the world. Today, more tired, because despite the well-being, at least in our Western world, our people have lost their spiritual values and sometimes even human ones. We meet young people on our road so sad, indecisive, immature, eternal children, grew up in affluence, but not prepared for life. They need to fill the emptiness of the soul with the sounds of disco, with the oddities of fashion, with the vagaries of the choices ... to get rid of boredom. I am sure the Lord Jesus has so much compassion for us, of our people. So he sent his disciples to bring comfort. Today the Pope, bishops, priests and lay people involved are seeking to enter the soul of every man to get lost in the hope that gets its start right from the cradle of Bethlehem. Would that all our brothers, tormented by the suffering and despair, rediscover hope for excellence in the Word made flesh, which is Christ Jesus the MBS

One of the problems of the Church especially in the West, is the problem of vocations: the priests are decreasing, although there is a slight increase of seminarians, religious, friars and monks, also decreased, the Sisters decrease
even more. Only in Italy is ta over ten years of less than 5,000 priests, nuns in less than 20,000, and then there is the problem of aging. Jesus predicted all this and he said, as written in the Gospel of Matthew, that "the harvest is plentiful but the laborers are few" recommended for this the way most beneficial to have new vocations and consecrated sacerdotai "pray to the Lord of the harvest send out laborers into his harvest. " The insistent prayer, knows from experience the author of these modest reflections, is the only effective way to get more priests, more nuns, more souls consecrated to God and the Church. The rest: the week vocational, economic aid to the seminaries and institutes of religious formation ... all right, but prayer is the most efficient and the most necessary

Friday - St. Francis Xavier - 29.17 to 24 Ps 26 Is Mt 9,27-31: Jesus heals two blind men who believe in him.

You open your eyes to blind
It seems to me that the liturgy of the Word of today shows two things, possibly conflicting with each other: The redness of Israel before the other peoples and the desire of light in two blind men of the gospel. We read in Isaiah: "From now on, Jacob shall not be ashamed." Yet the people jew is in truth, worship the true God, and he followed and protected. But when he turns away from His commandments, then it becomes the slave of his enemies. In their misfortune have the blush and shame, not so much because their God was won by the gods of the peoples enemy, as was believed at the time, as because their costumes did not comply with the covenant of their God when the people you convert, the intervention of the God of Abraham will change its future, and will also feared by enemies. In terms of human respect or shame us Catholics, believers in the true God, perhaps claim the distinction. We are in truth, we worship the true God, we have been redeemed by the blood of the Lord: we have every reason to count ourselves fortunate, without our merit, yet we remain timid and ashamed, like Peter who denies the Master before a high priest's servant, while those who propagate the error, the shameless lies. We really miss the courage of the martyrs, the gift of the Spirit, but also the result of a conviction. We should pray more light for our spiritual life. Sometimes we are blinded by our pride, fear of being mocked, because we are disciples of a crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles. We cry out to Jesus as the two ends to spare us and ripetiamogli with faith that he can heal us of our inadequacies, our infidelity. He will say to us is done as per your request: then we will acquire the wisdom that comes from the fact that we will look in their essence, we get the fortitude of the martyrs and confessors of the faith, we will have a burning desire to proclaim Christ everywhere Saviour of the world. Repeat the rooftops as the Spirit of the Lord has made known the secret of the heart. The example of St. Francis Xavier, whose liturgical memory we celebrate today, we encourage and spur us to cultivate the missionary spirit that belongs to every believer.

Newspaper "In His Image" - comment by Msgr. Francesco Ruppi

The miracle of healing the blind is truly exemplary, indeed, symbolic, because the Lord confirms the close link between the miracle and faith: that is, if there is faith, the Son the miracle of God, but if there is no faith, as happened on Friday morning before the king Herod, the miracle of God does not do it. For this reason, the blind screaming: "Son of David, have mercy on us," Jesus asks: "Do you that can do this?". To answer yes, the eyes of the blind are opened and the miracle actually takes place. Jesus advised not to disclose the miracle, why not walk him a reputation as a healer, but they, wherever they went, they spoke of what he had done no miracle Jesus ever pass over in silence and then she had never seen that a man opened his eyes to a blind man has never seen in Israel, people say something like, "but meet the Pharisees that Jesus does the work of demons. More ridiculous than that, you die!

Thursday - Is 26.1-6 Ps 117 Mt 7,21.24-27: who does the will of my Father shall enter the kingdom of heaven .
Faith and works

full confidence in the wonderful plan of God opens the heart and the language to the song of victory. And 'what we propose in the first reading Isaiah. This song marks a stark contrast, the rest is not unusual: In front of the fortified city, located on the rock, we are shown the devastation of a city that seemed timeless, the proud Babylon, burned to the ground trampled from the feet of those who took it oppressed and reduced to poverty. Once again, this proved the truth of the inconsistency of human affairs if they are not founded in God, the only eternal. Each character or empire came to power in his tyrannical arrogance and hubris gave and gives the impression of being eternal. But we know that every human lives his parable of the rise and decline. So much so that we can exclaim with writing, with the intention and admired almost incredulous: How come you fell too, that you thought you climb to heaven? It would be inappropriate to recall some story of our time in the world, such as national or personal. The man, like all human realities, should learn to live their own frailty, uncertainty and relativity. The passage of the Gospel calls us to express their faith not so much by mouth, as with the life lived in faithfulness to the Word of God alone who does the will of the Lord will reach the kingdom of God is not enough to say: "Lord, Lord, "but we need to follow the works. In the words of the Lord we are allowed to discover the cause of many failures in the individual life, family, church groups. The house built on sand, that is only on human values, not consistency, is unable to overcome the difficulties it faces. Who lacks faith in the reality of the spirit, is helpless in the face of so many situations that society creates without providing the means to overcome them and live them ... And what about the difficulties of married life, the danger of letting yourself be overcome by running each ' selfishness and expect to use the other / to welcome him as a patron instead of / as the partner in life, with equal rights and duties? We ask today that we may be useful for one, and indeed to be able to bear the weight of each other and help each other in the way of the Lord, in joyful expectation of His day. MBS
Journal "A Sua Immagine" - comment by Msgr. Francesco Ruppi
The wise man, Jesus admonishes the one who builds a house on the rock and not sand. The Gospel of Matthew says today inviting us to build our lives on rock of faith that is Christ. The reason is written in the words of Jesus who builds the house on the rock is safe when the winds and storms, but instead one who builds on sand is always in danger. The first-says-Jesus is a wise man, the second is a foolish man. Where do we stand? It 's a great question, which is vital for today, but especially for our future if we merge our life of faith in Christ,
find serenity, peace and joy, if instead, we base life on human reasoning, momentary interest, the grounds of the earth, we are always in danger, because - mettiamocelo well head - life is one, and there is a life today and tomorrow another life, but our life is oriented between now and tomorrow. What are your plans?

Wednesday - Is 25:6-10a Psalm 22 Mt from 15.29 to 37: Jesus healed many sick people and multiplies the loaves.

The banquet of the Lord.

In today's Liturgy of the Word we can see the figure and its implementation, the advertisement and the reality of saving events. Isaiah sees a mountain on which is laid a juicy meal to which all nations are invited. The joy of the feast is added to remove the veil of sadness and death that covered the face of the people, the tears and lamentations. Instead arise in their hearts the hope of salvation, placed in him completely. A cry of grateful joy bursts forth from their mouths. The Gospel shows us the realization of the benefits promised to the people and taken with the first coming of the Lord Jesus mind of Jesus to the people is that of compassion: it is people coming from far away to hear his voice and to be healed of their diseases. There are three days that follow. How to send them back to their homes without giving them something to eat? He takes care of the needs of all the multitude, it is recommended by the apostles. Faced with their concerns of having to feed so many people, Jesus cut short: How many loaves have you? Say: Seven and a few small fish. Orders the crowd to sit down and then with seven loaves and a few small fish feed people that can now be transported back to their homes. Should have been very tasty loaves and fishes, not only for the appetite after three days after Jesus was rather hear, but also as a result of a miracle bread. It is true that what was announced by Isaiah. Faith shows us in this mountain, the altar where the Lord multiplies the Eucharistic bread to feed those who want, giving himself. Perhaps it would not be out of place to the wonder of our people every time we present to receive the body of Jesus, even more extraordinary miracle. There ciberemmo him not out of habit, but driven by a strong desire to be saved in our pettiness. MBS

Today's Gospel describes one of the days of the Master knows that as soon as people arrived, everyone goes to see and hear, they bring the sick, the lame, the paralyzed and many
sick. Jesus, full of compassion, heals disease and then having the people around him and listen, says a moving speech: "I have compassion on the crowd, which is not eating, I do not want them back home fast." And so the miracle of the multiplication of the loaves . This page of Matthew is very moving in many ways: first, because Christ is with the sick, heal them and is not just to teach but also to feed the people who listen. Two indications profits for each of us to love more the sick, help them and support them in their infirmity. And also because it invites us to worry about more than the hungry. Many millions of men hunger, thirst, and we wasted daily bread and water. A third of mankind is dying of hunger. We can not forget, because we are all children of God

S. Andrew the Apostle
Tuesday - Rm Ps 10.9-18 18 Mt from 4.18 to 22: They immediately left their nets and followed him -
Teacher, where do you live?
Today the liturgy fixing his eyes on the Apostle Andrew, brother of Peter, called to share the most intimate moments with Jesus as the transfiguration and agony in Gethsemane. Preacher of the gospel in Asia Minor and Greece. Consumes his martyrdom in Patras, Greece. His relics, venerated in St. Peter's in Rome by Pope Paul VI were returned to the Greek Orthodox Church, and exposed for veneration in the place of his martyrdom. In the liturgy of the word that St. Paul writes to the Romans, affirming the need the mandate to preach the faith which will give rise after listening to the testimony must follow. Matthew instead reminds us how promptly the brothers Peter and Andrew, followed by James and John, upon the call of Jesus, leave everything and follow him in his route from village to village to proclaim the good news. In St. Andrew, you can admire two attitudes: The research and testimony. Andrea is a disciple of John the Baptist. Before his death, his teacher asked him to follow Jesus but He wants to know who is this Jesus of Nazareth. We listen to John: "And the two disciples followed Jesus Jesus saw them following, said: What do you want? They answered him, Rabbi (which means teacher) where are you staying? He said to them: Come and see. They came and saw where he lived, and that day they stayed with him. It was about four in the afternoon. "The two disciples of the Baptist and John the Evangelist Andrea. After this experience of living with Jesus understands Andrea: Now he knows who Jesus is and becomes his mission. He first found his brother Simon and said: We have found the Messiah (which means Christ) and brought him to Jesus after this meeting, when he felt called by Jesus and his brother, does not pose any delay. Leave everything and follow the master. His testimony is full of faith. He died on the cross to X is known as "cross of Saint Andrew." I think that would be our duty to follow the search for Andrea in our lives: The search for God and believes his plan of salvation through Christ prepared. We should learn from St. Andrew to respond promptly to the demands of grace and not to keep to ourselves what we found in our faith but on the roofs proclaim and witness with life and words. MBS

the feast of the apostle Andrew, the liturgy makes us listen to the page of Matthew, when we remember the calling of the Twelve Apostles. After a night of prayer, walking along the Sea of Galilee, Jesus saw two fishermen, Simon and Andrew his brother, who are throwing nets into the lake, for they were fishermen. He calls them and says, "follow me, I will make you fishers of men." The nice thing is that the two left their nets and should be with the Lord. Andrea is bigger than Simon, but at Caesarea Philippi, after a brief examination of faith, Simon goes first to his brother and became leader of the apostles, Jesus changed his name to Peter, the first pope, who has the task of sustaining the faith of the disciples of Christ. The Gospel of Matthew recalls that after the two brothers, the Teacher saw two other brothers, James and John, sons of Zebedee, also calls them "and they immediately
left the boat of his father and followed him." To Jesus' call is answered immediately, with confidence and generosity.

In the Responsorial Psalm encouraging and nice to have an invitation: Come meet the Lord with joy! The advent of the Savior can not fail to bring joy and peace to the hearts of man. On the other hand also Liturgy of the Word invites us to open our hearts to joy. This bud of the Lord, which blooms from the root of David, comes to give life and to reconstruct and gather the children of Israel scattered in the deportation to Babylon. But this joy is even greater and more secure because we see the Savior in action in favor of mankind, healing the centurion's servant. It is not his son, is a slave and yet the same centurion moves to seek his salvation. He, despite being charged, he believes that Jesus has the power to heal from a distance. In his humility is deemed unworthy to receive it at home. This bud is already working and brings salvation. The servant is healed and the Lord drew the attention of his disciples in the great faith of the centurion. Bello the praise that he weaves this military: "... I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith" that praise may sound like a reproach to our lack of faith coma it was for the contemporaries of the Lord, but also as an invitation to grow in the near messianic confidence of Christmas, despite the circumstances of humiliation in which the world is the Redeemer, He is the son of the living God. It is not easy to recognize in extreme poverty one who governs all things and through whom everything exists. It could not be precisely this reason poverty of faith? Who created the world is not looking for her wealth, but one that lasts forever, the souls. From the cradle to announce that his kingdom is not of this world as repeated Pilate. Before this model of freedom of every human condition arises in us the desire to get rid of everything that keeps us trapped in the earth and affects us in our choices. MBS

beginning of Advent brings us the Gospel of Matthew the beginning of Jesus' teaching page now is truly exemplary, but is also indicative for our lives. If we have faith we can get everything from the Lord. The episode of the centurion who asks Jesus for the grace of healing of the servant, is very moving. Jesus replied that he will go home her to heal, but the centurion says a word that has passed into history and we, first communion, we pray always, "you do not need you to come to my house, but 'only a word and my servant will be healed. " The Son of God is impressed by this word and says
"no one has such faith in Israel of all.
The miracle does not request, do not do the words, and even the candles, flowers and offerings, but only the faith: those who have faith in God is never wrong, and he who has faith in God never loses.
