Atreyu-Lead Sails Paper Anchor

Perhaps, before making any talk about this album, it would be better to make a statement clear and explicit: this album is not metalcore.
been almost 10 years since the quintet OC began to take its first steps, contributing heavily to create the modern metalcore sound and now it seems that this label them a bit 'close to Brandon, Alex and his associates. Even the short distance from their previous record release, seems to bear witness to the desire to go further and leave the past behind, without completely denying it. In addition to the undeniable sound evolution, it is glaringly obvious that even Alex Varkatzas has almost completely abandoned the screams safe choice that will arouse controversy, perhaps by the very people who were horrified years ago before his growl almost atypical.
The disc opens with Doomsday ideal link with the foregoing fact, characterized by a very metal attack that results in a perfect chorus of big jack and the same can be said of Honor .
Now, sit down, because Falling Down is really a low blow. Damn catchy and pop in the middle with a solo that comes straight from the 80s, even with the trumpets in the background. Not exactly what we expected from Atreyu, but hell, if this track does not give them the same fame of My Chemical Romance and the like, there will be crying foul.
Following the single, Becoming The Bull, other combination of pop-metal really hard not to hum. And what about Lose It piece almost nu-metal with inclusion of vocals that seem to come from your head down Morricone?? If nothing else Two Become One us back on areas most well known thanks to his more hardcore groove filled by continuous assolini.
Personally, I think Can not Happen Here the song more interesting with heavy breakdowns and some minor electronic transition, while Slow Burn is another surprise that just do not expect, that a mid-tempo style Millencolin, for Not to mention Blow , striking example of 80's cock-rock that would make the joy of the Motley Crue.
The transformation has begun but not completed, because I think this album would serve to Atreyu to convince their audiences (and autoconvincersi ...) to be a band at 360 °, without any particular limitations. The fact remains, however, that the lack of a unique direction and a well-defined sound makes this disc less than album as The Curse or Suicide Notes And Butterfly Kisses .
Surely, if all goes well, will become very popular ... but, after all, they deserve it.

As I Lay Dying-An Ocean Between Us

A warm welcome back to these horses thrash / metalcore! ! Two years of waiting around for one that is affected a band of more concrete, on which the blind spot. Meanwhile there have been constant touring (by the way, we hope for a miracle because seeing them together, the All That Remains and Maroon would be a blow ninety!) And Tim has been working on his fledgling label. Now, here they are, heavy, angry and precise as ever. More and more appropriately thrash (do not say that they are clones of the bands of the past, are the bands of the past, taken from the Slayer not guessed that more than one) with melodic simply perfect.
After the intro, which is part of a triple punch to the stomach: Nothing Left, An Ocean Between Us and powerful Within Distruction (at least 4 minutes of insane headbanging sure!).
Forsaken begins slowly and then grow more and more with a groove that can not be more mosh, seasoned with a really good chorus and the same goes for Comfort Betrays where the double pedal to be a thousand.
speech apart for I Never Wanted which opens with every intention to sound like a metal ballad, only to be an interesting cross between powerful riffs, melodic vocals and growling, just a little 'quiet' before 'assault Bury Us All that goes straight and fast like a train and so much more precise solo thrash.
If you think you've heard the best of this album think again, because The Sound Of Truth is applause! In this circumstance seems to see a merger between the As I Lay Dying All That Remains and above, which shows off their technical and creative needless to say, the desire to hear them live is increasing exponentially! Small
Pausini with Departed and then made part of the final assault by Wrath Upon Ourselves , which makes us understand how the band has gained in terms of replacing the melodic bass player, and finally This Is Who We Are : last clear message for us to understand what they are made of the As I Lay Dying.
fifty minutes that tiratissimi leave their mark and now, in fact the hard hitting and passionate from the first listen, while providing very heavy and uncompromising steps. The critics and the public are already praising An Ocean Between Us and although there are not many four months to the end of the year, pending the response of other large pieces of metal, I work this imbalance and crowned album of the year ... without hesitation.
